Admission Requirements

Admission Policy

Admission is granted to first year class of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelors of Dental Surgery (BDS). The Admission is offered on the basis of Academic Records and Admission Test NMDCAT to be conducted by PM&DC/Provincial University. The admission will be open to all purely on merit. The number of seats available for admission to the first year MBBS academic session 2024 - 25 will be 100 students. BDS academic session 2024 - 25 will be for 50 students.

Where and How to Apply

  • The information and college registration form can be obtained either by downloading the form from www.sscms.edu.pk/admissions or can be collected in person from the college, Admission Office.
  • Completed application form together with the required supporting documents as mentioned on the form with a non-refundable registration/processing fee of Rs. 2000/- must be submitted before the last date.
  • Applications received without processing fee (non - refundable) will not be processed. Once acknowledged, an application cannot be withdrawn. Application fee may only be paid through cash or bank draft/pay order only in the name of Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences, drawn on bank having a branch in Karachi. No Cheques shall be entertained.
  • It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to comply with all the instructions given on the Application form and submit it before the due date. Incomplete applications and applications received after the last date will not be processed.
  • In case, at a later stage PM&DC or provisional government announces a centralized admission policy then the candidate will have to apply through centralized Admitting University which will be MANDATORY for all applicants to apply through that University.
  • Only applications which have been submitted and meet the eligibility requirements and have submitted the supporting documents by the deadline will be included in the Final Merit List
  • Students applying for both MBBS and BDS programs MUST apply separately. Separate merit lists will be made for MBBS and BDS. If you apply for only one program (ie BDS) and you decide later that you would like MBBS, you cannot be offered a seat even if your merit is higher than students on that merit list if you have not applied for MBBS program.

Equivalence Criteria of Foreign Examinations

For the purpose of determining merit, the candidates having passed Cambridge High School Certificate Examination with Biology, Physics and Chemistry at Principal level or the General Certificate of Education (A level) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry, the grades obtained in these examination will be equated as follows:

  • Grade A
  • Grade B
  • Grade C
  • Grade D
  • Grade E

The equivalence certificate in this regard can only be issued by IBCC Islamabad who are the competent authority to issue an equivalence certificate. All candidates before applying for admission may obtain an equivalence certificate. Students applying on foreign seats should either appear in the entance examination or obtain a score of min. 550 makes in each of the above subject in SAT II examination.

Proficiency in English

The medium of instruction at the College is English. Candidates are required to demonstrate reasonably good proficiency in this language. However, those who are admitted because of excellent performance in the test but are not up to the required standard in English should improve their language.

Submission of Application Pack for Admission

  • Candidates for admission must submit their applications neat and complete in all respects in their own hand writing in block letters. Submission of application will be accompanied with Rs. 2000/- (non-refundable) pocessing fee,
  • The candidates applying for admission must attach attested copies of the following:
    • Copy of SSC (Metric) / O-Levels/ equivalent Mark Sheet
    • Copy of SSC (Metric) / O-Levels/ equivalent Certificate
    • IBCC Equivalence Certificate for O Levels/Equivalent (if applicable)
    • Copy of HSSC (Intermediate) / A Levels/ equivalent Mark Sheet
    • Copy of HSSC (Intermediate) / A Levels/ equivalent Certificate
    • IBCC Equivalence Certificate for A Levels/Equivalent (if applicable)
    • College Provisional / Leaving Certificate
    • 06 Passport Size Photograph (must be taken in the last six weeks)
    • Domicile
    • 02 Copies of Applicants CNIC or B-Form
    • 02 Copies of Father / Guardian CNIC
    • 02 Copies Copy of NMDCAT Result (Any Province)
  • Application form and the documents attached with the registration form shall not be returned.
  • Incomplete registration form shall not be considered.
  • The registration shall be rejected in case the candidate is found guilty of suppression or misrepresentation of material facts.

Selection of Candidates

For the purpose of determining merit, the candidates having passed Cambridge High School Certificate Examination with Biology, Physics and Chemistry at Principal level or the General Certificate of Education (A level) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry, the grades obtained in these examination will be equated as per Equivalence issued by IBCC (Inter Board Committee Chairman), Islamabad:

National MDCAT as per PM&DC Admission Regulation

An admission test will be conducted equivalent to the standard of intermediate science (HSC) Examination in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, General Knowledge and basic Mathematics.

The admission test for the 2024-25 Batch shall be conducted in accordance to the PM&DC MEDICAL AND DENTAL UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION (ADMISSIONS, CURRICULUM AND CONDUCT POLICY AND REGULATIONS 2023 , all candidates wishful to join Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences for girls must appear in the National MDCAT exam of as per rules laid down by PM&DC.

Admission Criteria

A candidate holding F.sc (Pre-Medical) with minimum unadjusted 60% marks from Pakistan or equivalent marks as certified by Inter Board Chairman Committee (IBCC) is eligible for admission. Candidate has to qualify N-MDCAT examination held by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) for getting admission in Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences for Girls-Karachi. The minimum Passing marks for the NMDCAT examination shall be 55% marks for MBBS and 50% marks for BDS.

Entry Test

A candidate must appear in the entry test conducted by thePakistan Medical & Dental Council, for getting admission in Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences for Girls-Karachi in MBBS/BDS 1st Year. The passing marks for the NMDCAT examination shall be 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS.

Documents Required

According to the rules of the College the following documents will be submitted with registration/ Application for Admission form and shall be retained invariably and permanently by the College

  • Copy of SSC (Metric) / O-Levels/ equivalent Mark Sheet
  • Copy of SSC (Metric) / O-Levels/ equivalent Certificate
  • IBCC Equivalence Certificate for O Levels/Equivalent (if applicable)
  • Copy of HSSC (Intermediate) / A Levels/ equivalent Mark Sheet
  • Copy of HSSC (Intermediate) / A Levels/ equivalent Certificate
  • IBCC Equivalence Certificate for A Levels/Equivalent (if applicable)
  • College Provisional / Leaving Certificate
  • 06 Passport Size Photograph (must be taken in the last six weeks)
  • Domicile
  • 02 copies of Applicants CNIC or B-Form
  • 02 Copies of Father / Guardian CNIC
  • Copy of NMDCAT Result
  • Migration Certificate (Where Applicable)

The above documents shall not be made available to the students concerned either in original or Photostat. However, in exceptional cases the Photostat of the required documents can be provided to the candidates on submission of their application on the prescribed form on payment of Rs. 50/- for each document on the notice of 7 days subject to availability of the documents.
