About SSCMS
The college is situated opposite Boating Basin in Clifton, a quiet area of the city, free from noise and other pollution. It is located only 4km from down town (Saddar) easily accessible by all types of public transport.
The college is housed in a modern and spacious, purpose built building having covered area of 100,000 sq. ft. The college was established in 1998. A new administration block has been added in June 2016 with HR, examination, personal etc.
There are lecture rooms, spacious learning resource centers (latest audio visual aids), auditorium having seating capacity for 300 students, seminar rooms, dissection hall, anatomy museum , pharmacology museum , laboratories for all departments (physiology, bio-chemistry , pharmacology, pathology, forensic medicine , community medicine, dental materials, community dentistry, oral pathology, phantom head lab, oral biology and oral anatomy ) library, common rooms for students and faculty members and well furnished cafeteria. Student participation in college activities is ensured through class representation. All efforts have been made to obtain the services of highly qualified and dedicated faculty members and supporting staff of national repute.
The goal of the dental program is to educate and prepare students to meet the challenges of the community and to deliver prevention and cure of oral and dental diseases in accordance with the international standards.
The Sir Syed Dental Hospital provides a unique range of dental services for the people of Karachi. It is an integral part of the Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences for girls and is there to support undergraduate dental education. Between the Sir Syed Dental Hospital and the Dental College there is concentrated clinical expertise covering all the dental specialties.
The Dental Hospital includes an oral examination and diagnosis, panoramic x-ray, treatment planning and the
patient are referred to the specialists in each department for fillings, teeth cleaning, root canal treatment, braces, and complete dental care for children, crown and bridge, dentures, dental implant, oral surgery and medical consultation.
As far as the Basic Science classes are concerned lectures are delivered with the coordination of medical college teaching staff. The Dental College of SSCMS is recognized by the PMDC and affiliated with the JSMU.
